On a crusade to find myself

Should I have helped her ? or was I too late.. ?

Whenever I leave from work early, I used to see this old lady near my office at the traffic light selling agarbattis (Incense sticks).. This is at the Cathedral and John Cannon School Traffic light at Fort in Mumbai.
She is around 65 years of age, wrinkled face, wears a saree, and overall seems to be from a decent family based on her appearance.
Recently, I saw her begging at the car windows from people who stop at the light…and felt that I should help her in some way..
I dediced that I would talk to her and try to find out more about her background and if there is anyway that I could help her ..Maybe get her into an old age home..
But, I have not seen her at the light in the last week or so.. I hope she is fine..
Was I too late in deciding to help her ??
I hope not..

Well sometimes you want to extend help but it cant be received, that doesnt mean you dont help at all. You could always pass it on to someone else-after all thats part of the circle of life.

I am sure she will turn up sooner or later, its winter now-people tend to sleep a tad longer(there are some that have the leisure of it)

so nice of u to care for someone like that...in a world where no one cares abt anyone else other than themselves n their families, u reached out to her. Even if u couldnt find her this week, u thought abt her..thats very noble of ya. Im so proud of u Parag.

btw I cant stop crying...she reminds me of my granma..and all the old and disabled ppl who have no help but to suffer alone...it's such an unfair world.

@Fanaah --> you may have seen her.. You take that road to the station everyday

@Keshi --> that's not the lady's picture.. Though she looks similar..
And the objective was not to make you cry.. Sorry about that

God. So many times we face such situations. My mama taught me dat if old people or kids are selling something like agarbattis, one should buy it. it is a recognition of the fact that they do not steal or beg ,but try to earn money
hope she is fine. dont worry u can help someone else

Hi, my first time here.

How much I relate myself with this post ! So many times we do this and still feel some undying pain inside.

This time if you see her (hope it's soon), don't waste a single moment to speak to her.
Will come back again.

I wish you meet her soon and can help her in any way possible. If not..then the first person you come across who you feel might need the help go ahead and extend a helping hand there...keep passing the goodness.
Your blog reminded me of an old lady who used to sell imli/badishep outside our school...:(
